STEAM Kit A: Solar Car & Wind Powered Plane

The Challenge: 

Imagine you are a mechanical engineer at a startup company. Your company is introducing to the market a new car and plane that uses solar and wind energy. Your job is to build a solar car and wind-powered plane that can travel the fastest and furthest.

Design Challenge Questions: 

• Create a start and finish line using the ribbon. Using a stopwatch, how long did it take for your car and plane to reach the finish line?

• How fast did your car and plane travel? Hint: Calculate the distance and time.

• Design a logo for your startup company using the paint and canvas. What is your company’s name? What do you want your logo to represent to customers?

• Why should customers purchase your solar car and wind-powered plane? How will it impact the environment?
