STEAM Ahead Awarded Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Grant
STEAM Ahead is excited to announce that we were recently awarded a 3-year EmPower Massachusetts implementation grant through the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC). EmPower Massachusetts is an initiative to support the exploration, development, and implementation of program models or projects that provide access to the benefits of clean energy for previously underserved populations in Massachusetts.
STEAM Ahead will participate as a member of the grant’s Workforce Development and Education Cohort. The focus will be to implement an education and outreach initiative to build awareness of clean energy solutions, S.T.E.A.M. vocational and career pathways, and state and local based clean energy resources. The program will primarily serve underserved and underrepresented residents of several Environmental Justice communities throughout Massachusetts by offering three key components: a Community Resource Hub, Vocational Support, and Clean Energy-focused Environmental Science Education courses. The program will be implemented with partner middle and high schools in the Boston Public School system as well as in the communities of Brockton, Lowell, Lawrence, Framingham, and Worcester.
